Know the wines
Thirty-three grape varieties are authorized for AOP and IGP wines across the Loire vineyards. These six expressions of grape varieties and wine styles define the identity trade professionals meet most often on the shelf and on the list.
The Loire is the world's #1 producer of Chenin Blanc. From bone-dry to luscious sweet, Chenin is the region's most versatile white, offering honeyed depth, vibrant acidity, and remarkable ageability.
Anjou, Saumur, Touraine, Vouvray, Savennières
Loire is the world's leading region for Cabernet Franc. Silky tannins, violet and graphite notes, from crunchy reds to structured age-worthy bottles.
Examples include Chinon, Bourgueil, and Saumur-Champigny, among others
Crisp, mineral, and aromatic. The Loire's Sauvignon set the global benchmark for taut, food-friendly whites.
Touraine and its village-appellations, including Chenonceaux and Amboise, as well as PGI Val de Loire
Saline freshness and Atlantic character define this grape. The signature of the Nantais and the classic partner to shellfish and oysters.
Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine
France's leading source of AOP rosé. From pale, elegant dry styles to gastronomic rosés with substance. Loire rosés are versatile at the table and an ideal pairing for spicy cuisine.
Cabernet d'Anjou, Rosé d'Anjou, Rosé de Loire
Traditional-method sparkling with fine bubbles and bright fruit. The Loire is France's second-largest producer of sparkling wines.
